KI 2238 Windows 11 - Self service upgrade
(updated )
Before you begin
- NOTE! Only PCs with qualified hardware will get the option in Software Center for upgrading.
- Be aware that this process takes between 1-2 hours, depending on the number of files you have on your PC and the speed of your network connection. For the highest possible speed, a wired network connection is recommended, but not required. There is approximately 5GB to download.
- Check that your OneDrive folder is synchronized. See the collection page about OneDrive here: KI 0574
- The PC is connected to power.
- The update will not delete files on the PC, as this is an upgrade, not a reinstallation.
It will be possible to work on the PC while the upgrade is downloading, but once it starts installing, it will no longer be possible to use the PC while the upgrade is taking place. It may be appropriate to restart the PC before you begin, to reduce the number of processes running while the PC is being upgraded.
