How to access Mitt UiB without using UiB VPN.

Who is this for?

This is especially relevant if you use a computer that is owned or operated by another institution, where you cannot install UiB VPN yourself. The most common ones here are:

computers from Vestland fylkeskommune (the county municipality)
computers managed by other universities or colleges
other work computers or locked-down computers where you cannot install software

For security reasons, Mitt UiB must be accessed via the UiB network when you are off campus, and we recommend that you always use UiB VPN. Only if you are unable to install VPN on your device, or you encounter some problems, should you instead use the website mittuib.app.uib.no, which you can reach without VPN.

What you need

an active UiB user account
an up-to-date browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

Step by step

Go to mittuib.app.uib.no in your browser.
Log in with your UiB account (username@uib.no) and password, and approve two-factor authentication.
Use Mitt UiB as usual. You're in without installing VPN.
