KI 0126 What happens to my user account when I leave?

When you leave the University of Bergen, your account will be closed. You will then lose access to the University of Bergen’s services, such as your stored files, e-mail, eduroam, etc.

Students

Students’ user accounts will be closed two months after the right to study expires (i.e. when you have completed your studies or have stopped registering as a student).

Students whose account is going to be closed receive a notification containing a link to a self-service solution, whereby the IT account can be kept open for another six months.

Employees

Employees’ accounts are closed when employment ends, but the local approver can convert the account to a long term guest account (for up to 12 months at a time) on request from the employee.

NB! (employees and students)

Stored data are deleted six months after a user account is closed.
Accounts on Microsoft Office 365 are closed 30 days after the UiB account is closed.
