KI 0187 What can be copied in accordance with the Kopinor Agreement?
- Scientific journal articles - maximum one article from each journal issue per course/subject per semester.
- Book excerpt - maximum 15% of the total number of pages (NB! In previous agreements the rule was max 15% or up to an entire chapter, and up to 30% if the book was no longer in sale).
- Newspapers, magazines, cultural and professional journals etc. - unlimited scope. Academic journals are journals that are outside the counting system. If in doubt, you can search for the title here. If you do not find the journal at NSD (or it is at level 0), it is defined as a non-scientific one.
- Notes (music) - maximum 15% or 10 pages (if 15% is more than 10 pages)
UiB's guidelines (Note 2015/10793-BESV) for applying for rights clearance for material that goes beyond what is permitted under Kopinor agreement:
- Books in sale - if an excerpt exceeds 15% of total pages, institution can apply for clearance of the entire chapter (maximum 15% or whole chapter)
- Books no longer in sale - one can apply for up to 100% (it is expected that the course leaders give a direct notification if they want UB to apply for entire books)
