KI 0702 Transferring contents from old to new mobile phone
Text messages are usually located locally on the phone, and in some cases it is desirable to have these transferred to a new phone.
The IT division is not able to perform transfer of content (including data, contacts or text messages) from the old phone to a new one.
Apple iPhones can easily be backed up using iTunes or iCloud. After receiving a new phone, the entire contents of the old phone are downloaded back to the new device.
For Android phones this is done in a slightly different way, and you should use the manufacturers' own apps and programs to make sure that copying goes smoothly.
Manufacturers' instructions:
Below are links to the manufacturers' own instructions for transferring data from old to new telephone. Note: All use of this software is at your own risk! The IT division can not be held responsible for any loss of data or content resulting from the use of the software to which it is linked. UiB does not have control over external websites.
- Sony Xperia Phone (Xperia Transfer)
- Apple devices (iCloud or iTunes)
- HTC phones
- Samsung Phones (SmartSwitch)
Note: Several of the tools listed above can also be used interchangeably. Example: You go from Samsung phone to Sony. Then you need Sony's tools.
If you have had an Android phone before, but now switch to Apple iPhone, follow this guide.
