KI 1184 What are the rules for using the common areas at the Studentcenter?

All who wish to make use of the Student Centre for informational activities are obliged to know the rules governing the use of the premises.
Rules:
Posters and notices:
- Approved student organizations may hang up posters and notices at assigned locations without having to apply for permission. Approved student organizations are those student organizations registered with the Cultural Committee.
- Other student organizations can apply to the Student Council's Organization Consultant to obtain permission to place posters.
- Posters and notices for the sale of used books, housing services etc. can also be hung up at the assigned locations without having to apply for permission.
- Posters must be academic or welfare-related. Advertisements and commercial notices are not permitted. Posters that are of special cultural interest such as concerts, theatre performances etc. are nevertheless permitted.
- Posters that announce events, deadlines etc. must be removed by the responsible organization immediately after the deadline expires.
- During the semester holidays, all posters and notices must be removed.
Stands, newspapers and other information materials
- After having submitted an application, approved student organizations may receive permission to have stands or other means of providing information. Applications must be sent to the Organization Consultant.
- Other student organizations may be granted permission after a specific assessment has been made.
- The Organization Consultant will assign space. The Organization Consultant must ensure that stands etc. are removed by those responsible.
- Stand trestles and materials must not be left unsupervised. If this occurs, they will be removed and possibly discarded, and the organization may not be permitted to have stands in the future.
- Stand trestles and materials must be cleared away each evening by those responsible for the stand and materials, even if the campaign are to continue for several days.
- Commercial parties are not permitted to have stands promoting sales, advertisements or information pursuant to UiB's "Rules for use of the University's property for informational activities". The Student Welfare Organization's (Sammen) departments can only permit external promotion within the areas that are exclusively administered by Sammen.
- No stand may be placed in such a manner that it prevents free movement or other activities and operations in the building. Emergency exists must not be blocked.
- The provision of newspapers and magazines for students must be approved by the Organization Consultant and must be placed on racks allocated for this purpose. The publisher must ensure that previous editions are removed before new ones are placed on the racks.
- Newspapers and magazines that are not approved, will be removed at the publisher's expense.
- Other academic or welfare-related information materials must be placed at assigned locations after approval has been granted by the Organization Consultant.
General
- Use of tables and chairs that prevent free movement in concourses and common areas is not permitted. Tables and chairs must not be moved from the canteen or taken from other locations to be placed in common areas.
- The use of speakers, megaphones, musical instruments etc. must be approved by the Organization Consultant on each occasion. The Organization Consultant must raise this matter with the relevant parties in advance. Other undertakings or activities in concourses and common areas that cause noise must be avoided.
- Waste from stands etc. must be placed in the waste room. The party that has been granted permission is responsible for this. The Organization Consultant will arrange access to the waste room. The Organization Consultant is responsible for organizing the necessary cleaning when the responsible party pursuant to these rules does not comply with its duties. Any costs must be paid by the exhibitor.
- Together with the Fire Safety Manager, the Organization Consultant is responsible for establishing routines for regular monitoring to ensure adequate fire safety.
- When the Organizational Secretary is not present, the Sports Director is responsible.
- The Student Centre will have a house committee that consists of representatives from the groups that use the building and from the Department of Estate and Facilities Management. As part of its duties, the house committee will also be responsible for compliance with these rules. - A regular meeting about issues related to the building will be held in January each year. Participants are EIA, Sammen, and the Organization Consultant.
- These rules may be revised when required.
