KI 0297 Connecting to a SAFE server - Mac OS X
1. You have been granted access to a SAFE server
2. You have installed Cisco AnyConnect
3. You have installed Microsoft Remote Desktop

Start Cisco AnyConnect
Click Connect. The address fiels should contain the txt "UiB SAFE" or "UiB Tilgang Terminalserver". If not, you should not proceed, but rather contact UiBhjelp.
Enter your credentials. Use only your username, not username@uib.no or uib\username.
Currently, SAFE support two different methods for MFA, Microsoft Authenticator or SecurEnvoy
If you have enabled MFA with your UiB account, Microsoft Authenticator is the preferred (only) method.
You will receive a sign in verification request on your smartphone and asked to approve sign-in.
Once you press assume the smartphone will use biometrics (like face recognition) to verify your identity. If successful, you will be granted access to SAFE.
If you have not MFA enabled your UiB account, you can use SecurEnvoy. In order to do so, you need to type the following into the address field: https://elv.uib.no/
Next, you will be asked wich profile to use. The correct choice is "UiB SAFE (SecurEnvoy)". Enter password.
Enter the one-time code you have received on your mobile phone, either as a text message or in the SecurEnvoy app.
Once the one-time code has been accepted, you will be connected to SAFE. You should now see a small icon on the top of your screen.
Now you are connected to SAFE.
Next, start Microsoft Remote Desktop.
The first time you start the software, the list of desktops/PCs is empty. You must create one by pressing the "+" and choosing "Add PC".
You see the following dialog box:
Type in the name of your secure desktop. Replace server.uib.no with the name of your secure desktop. The project owner should know the name of the secure desktop.
If you want to add a user at this point, click on "Ask me every time" and choose "Add user account" from the drop-down list.
Enter your UiB credentials as shown below. Replace userid with your user-id, in the form of uib\username or username@uib.no
When clicking Add, you are return to the previous dialog box.
Click Save
Your desktop/PC has now been added to the list. To connect to the secure desktop you can now double-click on the name.
