KI 0497 Stronger passwords in Zoom meetings

To increase security in Zoom meetings at UiB, the password requirement has been increased from 6 digits (default value) to a more complicated password for all meetings. The new passwords must be at least 8 characters, with at least one number and one letter. Passwords have been required for all Zoom meetings set up at UiB.
Passwords are generated automatically and built into the invitation link for the meeting. so that as a participant you don't have to enter the password.

As a meeting organizer, the change affects you as follows:

1. Meetings that have already been scheduled are conducted as usual with the old password rule.
- EXCEPTION: You change settings at a meeting created before Tuesday, April 21st
-- You will then receive an error message, and must update the password to a password that satisfies the new rule (at least 8 characters and has at least one number and one letter).
-- In these cases, the invitation link to the meeting will be updated and must be re-sent.

2. Video seminars/meetings created via Mitt UiB work as before
- EXCEPTION: If you explicitly edit them via uib.zoom.us, the invitation link to the meeting will be updated without this being reflected in Mitt UiB. Link must then be re-sent to the students, or you must supply the new password, for example in an Announcement.

3. Update Zoom (Zoom Client for Meetings) on your PC - UiB PCs are updated automatically. Wednesday, April 22. On your own PC you need to download and update from zoom.us/download

4. Update the Zoom Outlook Plugin for Microsoft Outlook - UiB PCs automatically update soon. Wednesday, April 22. On your own PC you need to download and update from zoom.us/download

If you still have problems with Zoom on your PC, please log out from Zoom and log in again.

We remind you of our  recommendations for secure behavior in digital meetings.
