KI 1472 How to claim your user account (without national identity number)

When new students and employees are registered, a user account will be created automatically which must be claimed by the user. Persons who do not have a Norwegian National Identification Number will receive an e-mail with a unique link. You have to use the link to start the process of claiming your account.
The email looks like this:


NB! Please note that some e-mail systems may sort this message as spam. Therefore, please check in the spam folder if you have not received an expected message.
  1. When you have completed the steps of the procedure you started by clicking the link in the e-mail, you will get to the following stage where you have to request an SMS with a one-time code:

     
  2. You need to confirm the log-in with the one-time code you received after the previous step.
    Enter the code you received on SMS and press Enter to confirm:

     
  3. After logging in you must read an introduction to the university's ICT regulations:
  4. After reading the ICT regulations, please confirm that you acknowledge your duties and know UiB's privacy statement. Then click Confirm:

     
  5. You must now create your password. Enter the desired password, repeat it and then click Save password:

     
  6. You have now completed claiming your user account:

    Please note and memorize or write down your (1) user name and (2) UiB e-mail address that appear on this page. You will need them later!
        
  7. Start using multi-factor authentication
    UiB has mandatory multi-factor authentication for all employees and students. It applies i.a. Microsoft 365 and VPN. More services will be added.
