How to remove Copilot from Word

1. Request the entitlement Deaktiver Copilot i Office / Deactivate Copilot in Office in UiBtilgang
   1. Go to https://tilgang.uib.no/requests
   2. Open Catalog under Entitlements
   3. Search for Deaktiver Copilot i Office / Deactivate Copilot in Office
   4. Check the box and select Request (at the bottom of the page)
   5. Select Request in the panel that opens on the right side of the page
2. Wait at least one - 1 - hour
   1. The request is automatically approved, but it takes some time before it is effectuated
3. In Word (or another Office program) – Update the license
   1. Go to File → Account Settings → Update License
   2. Log in with your normal sign-in address
   3. Click OK on the message about restarting Office
4. Restart the computer (!)
   1. Restart the entire computer rather than just the Office application
   2. Choose Restart and not Shutdown (followed by turning the computer back on)

Troubleshooting and alternative

Copilot icon is still visible

• Repeat steps 3 and 4. Note: It will take some time from the request to actual activation, even if you have received an email confirming that the entitlement has been granted
• Make sure you have restarted the computer, and not just turned it off and on

Desktop as a temporary alternative

• To work in Word without Copilot and without waiting, you can use the desktop service at skrivebord.uib.no. The Office suite on the desktop does not have Copilot. However, note that certain other features, such as Sensitivity Labels (document classification), will also be unavailable.

Entitlement is not available in UiBtilgang

• Make sure that you search in the Catalog, not in My other Other entitlements
• Users with the Microsoft 365 Copilot license (Add-on license) can not remove Copilot before this license is revoked/removed
