KI 0911 What to do if the sound doesn't work
1. Is the sound on the unit on? Is the volume turned up enough for the sound to be heard?
You can check this by clicking on the small speaker-icon down in right corner (for Windows) or go to system preferences and click on sound (for Mac OSX).If you're using windows you need to uncheck the box for mute/muted sound if this is checked off. If you right-click on the sound-icon you will also be able to open volume mixer. You will now be able to see all the open tabs/windows that are using sound, and check control the sound for each one.
If you're using a Mac you have to test and check the same in your settings as on a windows computer. Check that mute is not checked off, and that the volume is turned on loud enough to be heard.
Also check that the sound-settings in the control-panel in the room are on, the volume is turned up and that it's not on mute.
2. Have you checked that the sound settings are correct?
If you're using Windows:You need to open the sound settings. Right click on the speaker-icon down on the right corner > click on Open sound settings. Here you can see out- and in-units (speakers and microphones). You can change the volume settings for the output unit you're using, or change to another output-unit. If you click on manage sound devices, you can see the units that are deactivated, and manage the channels you want activated. You can also run a sound test for the different speakers etc.
Here it's smart to check that the speaker you're using isn't deactivated or that you're connected to another speaker.
If you're using Mac:
Click on system preferences > sound > output. Here you can see which speakers and output units the computer is using. Check that the active output unit/speaker is the one you want to use. This you can do by clicking select and output device > click on the wanted output device.
In the output-settings, you can change the volume-level for each output device, and check that they aren't on mute.
3. Are all cables plugged in correctly?
This is especially relevant if you're using a private unit. Check that the AUX-cable for private units, are plugged in the unit you want the sound to play from. If you're using HDMI, an AUX shouldn't be necessary. Also check that your device isn't connected to bluetooth devices (like private earpods, speakers or headsets), and are trying to play the sound there. If you're using the computer belonging to the room, it's smart to check that the AUX-cable (often the green one), is plugged into the computer.
Don't move around on desks that have equipment installed! Don't move around on cables, or try to switch around on them yourself. Cables/plugs can loosen or break.
