KI 1262 Move E-mail from Unix mail (Webmail) to Exchange Online
To move your e-mail, you need the Outlook program. You install this from the Software Center or Appstore on a UiB PC/Mac, or you can download and install the program on private machines from start.uib.no.
Guide for Windows PC
If you have used Outlook on your PC before, start the setup by selecting File as shown below. (If you have not used Outlook on your PC before, you can skip the first two images.)The select + Add Account:
If you have not used Outlook before, you will first be asked you for your e-mail address. You will get the same dialog box if you have performed the steps above. Here you enter your e-mail address <username>@uib.no and click Connect:
Then enter your password:
In some cases you may be asked if your organization manages your device. This is not required for moving your e-mail so you may uncheck this and click OK.
You have now added your new Exchange Online account to Outlook.
Now it's time to set up the old e-mail account where your old e-mails are located. Enter the e-mail address <username>@[student.]uib.no in the dialog box and click Next.
Next select that you e-mail account is of the type IMAP:
Enter your password.
You have now configured Outlook to access both your new and old e-mail accounts. Uncheck Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone too (you may do this later) and click Done.
You will now see your two e-mail accounts on the left. One contains your old e-mails and the other contains new ones.
Identify which one is which and go to the inbox in it with the old e-mails.
Once you have identified the one that contains your old e-mails which you want to move, you can select one or more messages and then drag them to the Inbox for the new e-mail account ("Drag & Drop"). If you drag them and drop them in either the Inbox or another folder, you will see that they move there. Repeat the operation for the e-mail messages you want to move. If you have e-mails stored in different folders, you can first create folders in the new e-mail account (Exchange Online) and then move e-mail messages directly to the correct folder.
Finally, if you want to remove the old account from your Outlook after having moved all the e-mail messages, use File > Account settings and Account settings in the drop-down menu.
Select your account with e-mailadress <username>@[student.]uib.no in the appearing windows and then click Remove and Yes in the dialogue box.
Guide for Mac
We start by adding your new e-mail account located in Office 365:Start Outlook and select Tools > Accounts ... if you are not prompted to enter your e-mail account at startup:
Enter your e-mail address <brukernavn>@uib.no and click Continue:
Then click Cancel.
You should then see a message box like the one below. Click Not Office 365?:
In the next dialogue select outlook.com as provider:
Then enter your e-mail address <brukernavn>@uib.no. You may select to remember password, but this is optional.
You have now added your new Exchange Online-account to Outlook. The next step is adding configuration for your old e-mail account:
Click Add account:
Enter your e-mail address <username>@[student.]uib.no and click Next. Then click Continue:
You will be asked for login method. Click Not Exchange? in the top right:
Select IMAP/POP when asked about provider:
In the setup, select IMAP, enter the username as instructed and type imap.uib.no as incoming mail server and smtp.uib.no as outgoing server.
Also uncheck SSL on both outgoing and incoming server. Finally, click Add account.
Enter your password when prompted. You may (optionally) check Remember this password....
You have configured both e-mail accounts. Click Done to continue.
To close the window displaying e-mail accounts, click the red X on the top right.
You will now see your two e-mail accounts on the left. One contains your old e-mails and the other contains new ones. Identify which one is which and go to the inbox in the one with the old e-mails.

You have now transferred your old e-mail and removed the old account from Outlook!
