KI 3116 Using two-factor authentication when signing in

How to use two-factor authentication with Microsoft Authenticator.
This guide shows how to use two-factor authentication when signing in with Microsoft Authenticator.

If you have not set up two-factor authentication on your account, see KI 3114 Setting up two-factor authentication instead.

If you have previously used two-factor authentication and are experiencing issues with Microsoft Authenticator, you can try resetting the setup by following KI 1381 Microsoft Authenticator (two-factor) on a new mobile device.

Procedure
Two-factor authentication works so that when you sign in with your email and password, you must finally confirm the sign-in via the Microsoft Authenticator app.
  1. Sign in to a UiB site using your email and password. For example, you can use mitt.uib.no
  2. After entering your email and password, you must confirm the sign-in. You will see a two-digit number.
  3. Check your mobile phone for a notification and tap it to open the app.
  4. Inside the app, a box will appear asking if it’s you who is trying to sign in. Enter the two-digit number that appeared on your PC into the text field and click Yes.
  5. If the number is correct, you will be signed in to the site.

If you have any other questions or issues with two-factor authentication, contact the IT Department’s user support center (BRITA).
