KI 3260 New design of UiBhjelp self service portal June 2026
Changes
- New design of the UiBhjelp self service portal including:
- Updated appearance of "tiles" (buttons)
- New placement of news items with more items visible simultaneously
- Language selection on the front page
- Access to "My requests" on the front page
- "Service catalog" on the front page
- AI search in the knowledge base
What does this mean for you as a UiBhjelp user?
TOPdesk has refreshed the appearance of the self-service portal. It may look something like this for UiBhjelp: (The exact appearance depends on whether you are a student, employee or both.)Some of the changes are purely visual:
- Different design of the tiles ("buttons") with rectangular shape and the text placed in a white field below the icon. Flexible line width with 1-4 icons on each line depending on screen resolution
- News are now placed between the search field and the tiles (previously to the left of the tiles). Up to 5 news messages are displayed at the same time. (Previously up to 2.)
- At the top of the home page a field with three links to News, Requests and Service disruptions. This field is also fixed when scrolling down the page.
This will give easy access to news, requests (My enquiries/calls) and any service disruption messages ("major calls") wherever one is in the self service portal. Thus we no longer need to use a separate tile for "My requests" as we do today. - In the bottom of the page are a link to Services and a language selector:
This makes it easier for the user to choose between Norwegian and English. (No need to go to "My profile" to switch.) Services is a new feature with an alphabetic list of all services (service descriptions) in the self service portal, giving an overview that supplements the tiles and the search function. - AI search: The search field is now not just a "fuzzy search but also an AI search in the knowledge base, presenting an "AI overview of related knowledge items":
- The three previous tiles Knowledge Base, Get Help and My Requests are being replaced by one new tile (Help and My Requests) that contains all of these functions.
Why are we implementing this?
- A cleaner and more clearly laid out home page where important functions (news, my requests, language selection) are easily accessible.
- Makes better use of the total space on the home page.
- News becomes more visible with more items on the page at a time and easy access to all published news from a link in the header.
- The previous tile Get Help is being removed from the home page because the user gets better help by finding the service in question and finding information or filing a request there.
- The previous tile My Requests can be removed because there is now a separate link for this in the header. This frees up space for feature- and service-oriented tiles.
- Better search function with AI will provide better help.
